Dwayne Johnson ‘The Rock’ Expresses Heartbreak Over Maui Wildfires, Urges Support for Relief Efforts

In a heartfelt video message posted on Instagram, Dwayne Johnson ‘The Rock’ has expressed his deep sorrow and concern over the devastating wildfires that have been ravaging the island of Maui in Hawaii. As the fires continue to rage and the death toll climbs, Johnson, who has strong ties to Hawaii, called for unity and support in the face of this tragedy.

“I know that, by now, all of you around the world have seen the complete destruction and devastation that has hit our Hawaiian islands — our island of Maui — and I’m completely heartbroken over this and I know all of you are too,” Johnson said in the video.

The actor, known for his roles in blockbuster films and his philanthropic efforts, has a personal connection to Hawaii. He lived in Hawaii for a part of his childhood, and his mother was also born there. This connection has made the devastation caused by the wildfires all the more poignant for him.

Johnson’s message emphasized the need for resilience and unity in the face of this disaster. He shared that he is in contact with relief organizations in Maui, such as The Hawaii Community Foundation, to determine the best ways to lend aid.

“Heartbroken but our faith and mana is strong,” Johnson captioned the post. “First responders, health care teams, hotels, local businesses, boots on the ground organizations, and all our local heroes, stay strong – we love you and appreciate you. All our local families, our ohana, our aiga, stay strong through this devastating time.”

The actor also highlighted the resilience that is ingrained in the Hawaiian people’s DNA, saying, “Resilience resolve is in our DNA. Our ancestors are in our blood. This is who we are. This is what we do.”

Johnson’s plea for support and his message of solidarity echo the efforts of other celebrities with ties to Hawaii, including Jason Momoa and Auli’i Cravalho.

Auli’i Cravalho, best known for her role as the voice of Moana in Disney’s “Moana,” has been actively using her platform to raise awareness about the situation in Maui. She shared resources on Instagram for followers to donate supplies and asked for prayers amid the tragedy. Cravalho emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “DO NOT TRAVEL TO HAWAI’I UNLESS YOU ARE RENDERING AID. This has been declared a FEDERAL DISASTER. Your vacation can wait.”

Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman, also discouraged tourism in Hawaii during this critical time. He urged people not to travel to Maui, recognizing the suffering the island is currently enduring. Momoa expressed his gratitude to those who have already donated and shown aloha (love) to the community.

Momoa also initiated the campaign “#Mele4Maui,” encouraging people to share a mele, which is a chant, song, or poem, dedicated to those impacted by the fires in Maui. He highlighted the power of music to bring people together and help spread awareness about the situation.

“The mana of Aloha truly shines through in times like these, and for those who can donate or volunteer, those remain as the primary calls to action. And, sometimes we need to pause and take a deep breath – to calm down, give ourselves permission to feel, and find the mana that will get you and loved ones through the next step forward,” Momoa wrote.

In the face of this tragedy, these celebrities are using their voices and platforms to raise awareness, encourage support, and stand in solidarity with the people of Maui. Their efforts serve as a reminder of the strength of community and the importance of coming together in times of crisis.

As the wildfires in Maui continue to devastate the island, the support and aid provided by individuals, organizations, and celebrities like Dwayne Johnson ‘The Rock’, Auli’i Cravalho, and Jason Momoa are crucial in helping the affected communities recover and rebuild.
